I’ve written a few Country/Reader fanfictions of my own, and I gotta admit the genre is kinda… well… filled with a lot of blandness and a few gems. (I don’t think mine are “gems” tho„ uvu;;) From what I’ve noticed, a lot of them are written by people new to the fandom, so… they’re usually not gonna be fine pieces of literature.

They’re a lot like OC/Character fanfictions, although I have to admit Reader/Character fics are somewhat better than the former, since OC/Characters - especially really bad ones - seem like a self-insert for the author to fall in love with a character of their choice. But Reader Inserts… well, at least anybody who reads it can insert themselves, in comparison to an OC/Character fic. 

From what I’ve seen, the problem with Country/Reader fics is that a lot of authors don’t put enough effort into them. But hey, they’re no worse than poorly-written fics involving only the canon characters. 

Soo, basically… in my opinion, there’s nothing wrong with people who write tame or smutty Country/Reader fanfictions. As long as they understand not everyone’s fond of them.

And it’s also okay to think Country/Reader fanfictions are dumb, as long as you don’t diss people who like them.

I dunno… is it bad like, I think the comment “ew character/reader authors need to get laid” is kind of stupid? Using that logic, everyone who likes shipping canon characters together is “desperate” or whatever. Its just a fantasy some people have. Relax.

hi! ;u; Sorry this blog hasn’t been too regular with its updates, but I dunno, maybe there just hasn’t been that much Hetalia drama lately? I dunno. xD 

But you’re right. Whether someone ships USUK or FrUK or FrUS, the third guy shouldn’t be portrayed as some ass who tries to break up the ship. But I kinda think it’s perfectly fine for someone to, for example, ship FrUK, but maybe not like the character of America that much. As long as they don’t bash him for getting in the way of their OTP or whatever. 

Same with the Hetalia girls. I’m not really the biggest fan of Liechtenstein, but not because she breaks up SwissAus or whatever. I don’t even ship SwissAus all that much. xD I dunno, she just seems kinda too much like a boring cute anime girl. But I do like when she’s given a bigger personality by the fans. c:

I think it’s fine for anybody to dislike (maybe not hate) a character for whatever (hopefully logical) reason. As long as its not for some moronic reason like breaking up a pairing. :/

So why would you just delete all of your art it doesn’t make any sense.

Now, I haven’t been following the recent drama about her or whatever, but I know this artist kinda has a bad rep for bashing pairings, among other things.

Personally… flaming someone’s pairings because they flamed yours is kind of childish. Other blogs have probably talked about how it was wrong for her to say such a thing, and I have to agree. I especially didn’t like how she practically said people who ship incest pairings (like Germancest) support real-life incest or something. 

However, are comments like these really called for? (right click to make full size, I think)

I dunno about you, but I’d feel crappy if people said I was one of the worst people in the Hetalia fandom.

Well… I personally think of the Nyotalia as genderbends, and use them as such when I feel like drawing/writing shojo-ai/het versions of my favorite shonen-ai pairings. 

It’s alright if someone happens to think of the Nyotalia girls and guys as entirely separate characters alongside their male counterparts; just like it’s alright for someone to write fem!England, for instance, as just England with a vagina and a more ladylike personality.

I mean, other than fem!Italy being tougher than male!Italy (although I personally see her as having some of his ditzy, romantic, gluttonous personality), most of the other Nyo girls are still fairly similar to their male versions — although fem!Japan might be shyer than male!Japan, fem!Prussia is more serious, etc.

The Nyos are not exactly regular characters in Hetalia, so I personally think it’s alright for people to write them as they see fit. You want to write fem!America as pretty much the same as her male counterpart? That’s fine! You want to portray her as more down-to-earth and intelligent than male!America? That’s fine too! 

Can’t say my hypothetical male counterpart would be an exact carbon-copy of myself, but I’m fairly certain we’d share a few of the same personality traits and interests. c: And I think the same would apply to the Nyotalia girls (and guys).
